Tim Tebowing

Yea, Jesus, & Yea, You

God & Football. Who knew the two could ever make the same headline? Tim Tebow. The man has managed to mesh two otherwise mutually exclusive topics...at least from the mainstream perspective, and it's nothing short of miraculous from where I'm sitting!

Sure, there have been plenty of Christian NFL players to precede Tebow, but none of them have managed to channel the divine into such a solid streak of wins for an otherwise struggling NFL team so impressively. There's absolutely no denying it. The slew of criticism, hatred and heresy don't lie, and only a heavenly phenomenon such as Tebow could turn such things into such a testament, Bible style, baby.

Not only does Tebow have a bigger spiritual picture in mind, but he made it to the coveted NFL, the peak of his sport. At 8 & 5 (@ the time of this article), the Broncos have come quite a long way thanks to the man with more than just a plan. That's how Tebow himself explains it. He says football isn't what he is, it's just what he does, and it's a stark contrast to the dominant attitude in his sport. But he conquers the status quo with results. Wins. But not just wins, consecutive major comebacks.

With Bible verses strewn across his face, celebratory kneel sessions, and a relentless, iron clad willingness to win, he's taking typical NFL rhetoric by storm. ESPN and broadcasters and publishers of all kinds are now putting the NFL and God in the same headlines unlike anything we've ever seen. So now, some of the people who've worn the same dirty socks every Sunday for years in hopes of a win are now wondering if all they really need is a prayer.

Whether people believe he is or isn't performing acts of God, I'm just thankful that many of the people who may have never given any thought to where they sit in the grand scheme of the universe could perhaps be considering it now. If they weren't already Christians, they might be wondering what Christianity is all about. If they were Christians, they're probably wondering what they can do better to see as fantastic results as Tebow's manifest in their own lives.

Manifestation is the ability to create what you desire in your life. It is a Skill! But anyone can do it!

Tebow prefers the Bible, but there are countless, more concise literary sources you can read to learn how to manifest the life of your dreams in much the same way. While the Bible has plenty of uplifting messages, I'd like to remind you that most of it is confusing, ambiguous, negative, and therefore useless. For those that insist on using the Bible to find affirmations, they basically have to sift through it to find positive, uplifting messages, just as Tebow has done.

But affirmations alone are useless if you haven't created a solid self perception from which to execute even the best mandates. Tim Tebow epitomizes the whole process and has managed to pull it all together in a fantastic show of flow, and in the name of God. You can, too. And if you don't feel like sifting through the Bible, check out the New Age section of the library or bookstore.

It's Tebow's shamelessness that impresses me. Not his religion. He flows. In a world where we are creating our realities with our thoughts, he flows nearly as well as Jesus, and far better than the average Christian. I absolutely adore the way he has taken the NFL by storm and shocked the doubters in the name of a higher power.

And then came the game vs. the Patriots. Tim Tebow vs. Tom Brady. Tim vs. Tom. Roman God spittin verses from Romans vs. a U.S. Titan runnin tight games. Another miracle?

(Update 1/9/2012)

Well, not the first time. But after throwing for 316 yards, the John 3:16 enthusiast brought his divine magic back in the nick of time to play the Patriots again in a showdown for the playoffs! I'm excited!

SNL had a great "Tim Tebow / Thank you Jesus" sketch last week that was pretty funny. If you haven't caught it yet, you should .... good stuff!

Ahh, you have such a wonderful satirical flair! I love the subtle titular double entendre.

Tebow is a phenomenon. He shows everyone honor, dignity and respect, and shows no offense taken at the criticisms aimed his way. In fact he has a gift for graciously receiving sarcasm as praise, and returning a polite compliment to its sender. He is the best role model for kids that I have seen in professional sports in a long time. Perhaps he is a great role model for all of us.

Thanks for the great hub!

Thanks, David! I'm not sure what 'titular double entendre' is, but I'm about to Google it lol. I totally agree on the role model front!
